The M285 CAMAC Dataway test and monitor module provides CAMAC users with low cost monitoring and testing of the CAMAC Crate Dataway and systems software. This unit provides an LED display of all Dataway signals.
BACKGROUND DIAGNOSTICS:
The system computer can retrieve all signals of the previous Dataway cycle for self-testing, including data, control, and status signals.
DATA VOLTAGE MONITORING:
A power supply failure detector is included, capable of detecting steady-state or transient supply undervoltages. Detected power failure events will set a module LAM and de-energize a pair of auxiliary relay contacts. An internal switch is provided to disable sensing of the 12V supplies.
TEMPERATURE MONITORING:
If the ambient temperature rises above a specific, pre-set limit, a LAM interrupt is set.
DIAGNOSTIC LAM:
Allows setting the module's LAM by Dataway command or manually via a front panel switch to test the interrupt capability of the system's hardware or software.
WATCHDOG TIMER:
A retriggerable timer is provided to allow supervision of critical computer system performance. Failure to properly service the timer will result in a system LAM. An associated form "C" relay output is available on the module rear auxiliary connector.
LATCH AND TRACK MODES:
The module normally latches and displays data captured during standard Dataway cycles, with displayed data made available for readback by the system CPU. The front-panel switch may optionally select "TRACK" mode, gating Dataway signals statically onto the display LED's. "TRACK" mode is useful in diagnosing hard (stuck-bit) Dataway errors.
IDENTIFICATION WORD:
Provides the means for identifying the M285 module's position within the CAMAC Crate, and provides two user strappable bits for identifying such parameters as owner and site.
DATAWAY OR MODULE ADDRESSING:
Normally the latch mode captures every Dataway cycle. For certain applications it is useful to capture these signals only when the M285 is specifically addressed by the Dataway. An internal switch provides either Dataway or station addressed mode, considerably enhancing the module's usefulness.
