NIM Model GG202/N Gate Generator

1. CHARACTERISTICS

The GG202/N Gate Generator provides gating signals for the on-off (timing) control of modules in the EG&G M100 Modular Counting System that accept gated NIM-standard fast inputs and provides versatile timing signals for system use. The module has two independent timing circuits, either of which may be started by a NIM-standard fast logic signal.

Each circuit provides four NIM-standard fast logic signal outputs: a dual logic output (L Out), a back-terminated single complement logic output (L NOT Out), and a single delayed logic signal output (D Out). The widths of L Out and L NOT Out are adjustable between 100 nSec and 11.0 sec (plus latching) by front panel controls. The width of D Out is constant (~l0 nSec) and is independent of the pulse-width settings.

GG202/N output signals are initiated by a Start input signal. The prompt outputs end and the gating cycle is finished when the preselected width is reached, at which time the module resets and the delayed output pulse appears.

If the module receives a Stop signal while the gating cycle is in progress, the output signal is prematurely ended and the unit again resets, without producing a D Out pulse. If a Blank In signal is applied during a timing cycle, the logic signals return to their initial states for the duration of the Blank In signal.

The design of the GG202/N incorporates several convenient features; depressing the One Shot switch simulates a Start input for test and checkout purposes, and each of the two timing circuits has an associated front panel indicator lamp to facilitate the monitoring of gating activities.

2.2. CONTROLS AND INDICATORS
Width (uSec)/Mult With a 9-position coarse width control, adjustable in powers of 10 from 10-1 to 106 , having a 9th latching (infinity) position, and with a continuously variable Helipot multiplier (Mult) from X1 to X11, range of width adjustment is continuously variable from 100 nSec to 11 sec plus latch (infinity).

One Shot Push button simulates Start input for testing.

Indicator Lamp Allows gating to be monitored.

2.3. INPUTS
Start NIM-standard fast logic signal of 2 nSec width. Terminating impedance 50 Ohm.

Stop Same as Start input; ends cycle and resets module.

Blank In NIM-standard fast logic signals of width >5 nSec. Outputs are blanked (vetoed) for duration of Blank In, and preselected timing is not affected.
