The Jorway Model 84 Scaler has been replaced with a newer model , the Model 85A Quad 10OMHz Scaler. The Modal 85A is functionally similar to the Model 84 but utilizes newer currently available components such as MECL 10,000 integrated circuits allowing Jorway to supply scalers at even more economical prices without sacrificing performance.

The only functional differences between the Model 84 and 85A are as follows:

1. The overflow flip-flops are standard and installed at the factory.

2. The carry or overflow outputs are brought out to four (4) Lemo connectors provided on the rear panel.

3. The carry or overflow output is now a Fast NIM signal. The pulse carry output is normally wired to the Lemo connectors, however, the overflow flip-flop may be easily connected instead, providing a latched overflow signal which remains until reset.

4. Front panel Reset,(common to all channels) is via a pair of bridg- ed Lemo connectors which accept TTL level inputs. As an alternative, a pushbutton reset can be provided.

5. The discriminator is preadjusted to conform to CAMAC specifications TID-25875(7.2.2) with all variations of pulse width 3ns and wider and repetition rates to 100 Mhz.An adjustable discriminator is optional.

6. Read and Clear F(2) with appropriate subaddress is included. F(2) reads channels in an identical manner to F(O) and clears subaddressed channel at S2.
