GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Model 3290 is a single-width module that indicates the state of all dataway signal lines during a dataway cycle. It contains two 24-bit registers, desig- nated as Data and Command registers, the outputs of which are continuously dis- played with front-panel LED'S.
The Data register is loaded during Dataway data operations (F8 = 0) and is load- ed from the write lines if F16 = 1 or from the read lines if F16 = 0. R and W lights indicate the source of the data. The Data register can be read by N-F(O)-A(O).
The Command register is loaded during command and data operations and contains four A bits, five F bits and bits representing B, Q, X, N, C, Z, L, P2, Pl, I, S2, and Sl.
Several modes of operation are provided which determine the manner in which the registers are loaded. The modes are "S1", "N-S1", "Q-S1" , "DC Write", "DC Read", and "C" (a combination of Sl and DC Read). Hold mode ("H") inhibits register loading. The modes are selectable by front panel rotary switch or, when the switch is in Program position ("P") , by a three-bit control register. The bit assignments for the control register are shown in Figure 1.
MODES OF OPERATION
Sl Mode. R/W, F, A, X, Q, N, B lines are loaded by Sl.
N-Sl Mode. R/W, F, A, X, Q, N, B lines are loaded by N-Sl. These bits are thus unaltered by the dataway cycle unless the module is addressed.
Q-S1 Mode. R/W, F, A, X, Q, N, B lines are loaded by Sl if Q is true.
DC Write Mode. All lines associated with the Command register and all write lines are continuously monitored.
DC Read Mode. All lines associated with the Command register and all read lines are continuously monitored.
C Mode. (Combination of Sl and DC Read) Signal lines are continuously monitored until the leading edge of Busy is detected. The module then switches to the Sl mode and remains in this mode for 200 ms. before returning to the continuous moni- tor mode. The switching action is retriggerable such that Busy pulses occurring more often than 200 ms. will keep the module in the Sl mode.
H Mode. (Hold) Load pulses for the R/W, F, A, X, Q, N, B, Z, and C lines are in- hibited. The display of these bits is 'held' while in this mode.
P Mode. (Program Select) The above modes can be selected via the 3-bit control register. The register is written by N-F(17)-A(O)-S1.
FRONT PANEL
A jack-screw is provided that functions both in insertion and extraction of the module. 47 LED's provide information about the state of the dataway, and an N light flashes whenever the module is addressed. The 24 data bits are arranged in groups of three for easy reading in octal notation.
COMMAND Q x ACTION N-F(O)-A(O) 1 1 Gates contents of 24-bit Data register onto Dataway. N-F(8)-A(15) 1 Returns Q if L-source is True. N-F(10)-A(O)-Sl 1 1 Clears LAM source. N-F(14)-A(O)-Sl 1 1 Sets LAM source. N-F(17)-A(O)-Sl 1 1 Writes Control register. N-F(27)-A(O) 1 Returns Q if Mode Switch is in Program position. F(O) to F(7) loads Data register from read lines. F(16) to F(23) Loads Data register from write lines.
Note 1.
The commands that include N are operable when the Model 3290 is address- ed, and actions are independent of the strobe mode selected. However, the register load commands that don't include N operate on any dataway cycle, regardless of the station address. The register loading is as indicated under 'MODES OF OPERATION'.
